A public holiday here in South Africa – June 16 is National Youth Day and because the day fell on a Sunday, the following Monday becomes a public holiday.
Youth Day is a day that commemorates the youth of 16 June 1976 who planned to stage a peaceful protest against the Apartheid government’s decision to make Afrikaans the medium of education at all schools. The protest did not end peacefully. Having used tear gas to disperse the student crowd, the police resorted to using live ammunition, killing many and wounding hundreds more.
I hope all South Africans enjoyed their holiday (despite the fact that Bafana Bafana lost) and that they are enjoying their Monday off.
Alright, back to the post. This is my first fashion post on the blog. I just thought I share with you all my latest buys…which I love, love, love.
My first is a beautiful Forever New mini dress that I bought at Edgars Fourways Mall (I had walked Sandton City floor to floor looking for a dress…phew!). I needed to get a dress for a 21st Birthday celebration To whichI had been invited. The dress cost me a whopping R1000. Yes! A thousand (that would be about US$110 or £70). The price is steep, I know, but the dress is exquisite.
I wanted post a pic of the dress on the blog but my iPad is giving me such issues. As soon as I can get it uploaded, I will do so.
The next buys were a few Guess products bought from the Edgars Northgate Shopping Centre store. Just got to love Guess dontcha. They have such classy bags. So hip and of course so me.
Beautiful. I also came across some Polo stuff that I would really love to get. I will also post those up on the blog when I finally do get them.
And a pair of jeans with the word “Guess” studded on the back. LOVE.
I think I am slowly becoming a Guess girl. And there’s nothing wrong with that, right? 🙂
Until the next post, keep well. And how irritating is that? The other pics are able to upload but not the Forever New dress. Arrghh! Technology.
